The Demons finished first out of 29 teams with 4,768 points, followed by Steamboat (4,581), Colorado Rocky Mountain of Carbondale (4,445), Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy (4,276) and Summit (3,967). High Desert Composite of Cortez finished 28th (1,444).
The Demons also won all four of the Piedra League’s regular season races to finish the year undefeated as a team.
Animas placed 20th in Division 3 with 1,255 points, and Crested Butte (2,117) won the team title. Boulder won the Division 1 team title with 6,738 point, 217 more than second-place Golden.
While the team scores are calculated separately, the individuals from every division compete against each other for podium spots at the championships.

Riley Huston was Durango’s top scorer with a second-place finish in the varsity girls championship race. Columbine freshman Kira Mullins won the three-lap race in 1:19:07, finishing just 36 seconds ahead of the DHS sophomore. Animas senior Julia Glotfelty of finished 16th out of 46 riders in 1:27:57.
The Demons also scored bunches in the JV boys championship, with sophomores Emmett McManus (43:51) finishing third after two laps and Kai Lokey (43:58) reaching the podium in fifth out of 152 riders. Junior Chase Groom was also one of Durango’s 10 point scorers with an 18th-place performance in the race (46:49).
Betty Holcomb led a strong group of Durango freshman girls, capping off an undefeated season with a state title. Holcomb won the freshman girls championships in 53:33, finishing 34 seconds ahead of Steamboat’s Eva Minotto.
Tilia Clausen also reached the freshman girls podium with a fourth-place finish (54:44) while Ellie Shaw placed sixth (56:00) and Rowan Lott placed 11th out of 68 (58:08).
In the varsity boys race, Chase Connors finished 18th out 84 riders in 1:09:03 to lead Durango. Liam Bezek finished 24th in 1:09:59, Bryan Hastey placed 36th (1:11:41) and Orrin Bleth crossed 39th (1:12:25) for Durango. Brayden Harms of Animas finished 62nd (1:16:21) while the Piedra League’s points leader for the varsity boys, Max Johnson of High Desert Devo, was assessed a five-minute penalty and finished 69th in 1:18:27.
In the sophomore boys race, Quentin DeLuca finished seventh (48:21) to lead the Demons. Cedar Bremner finished 28th (50:05), Zach Oliver crossed 54th (52:38) and Dylan Timmerman placed 151st (1:25:07).
