9-R COVID-19 RETURN-TO-PLAY PROTOCOL

1. Athletic Trainer emails a copy of the RETURN TO PLAY CLEARANCE form to the family of the COVID positive student-athlete

2. The student-athlete is advised to refrain from exercise/exertion for ten days and that they will need medical clearance to return to play. In mild cases, this may be via telemedicine though often involves a visit when no longer contagious (day 10).

3. The student-athlete may return to learn after day 5 (per the CDC guidelines) if they are able to wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask and have no or minimal and improving symptoms. They may attend practice though MAY NOT ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE UNTIL CLEARANCE.

4. If the graduated return to play is indicated, it begins after day ten and will be monitored by the AT. The AT will communicate with the coach regarding how much the student is cleared to participate via Healthy Roster. The Return to Play protocol is at the link below and is on page two of the flow diagram from the AAP. Please note that this protocol is subject to change as more is learned.
